Os deputados do Partido Comunista Português no Parlamento Europeu, João Ferreira e Inês Zuber visitaram o distrito de Castelo Branco e informaram que questionaram a Comissão Europeia sobre os despedimentos e a situação social nesta região..
São cerca de quatro mil despedimentos desde maio na região e no documento apresentado no Parlamento Europeu deixam como exemplos os casos dos 400 trabalhadores despedidos do centro de contacto da Segurança Social e os 300 da multinacional Delphi, ambos na cidade de Castelo Branco.
No caso da empresa de cablagens, o partido pretende saber o montante das ajudas financeiras atribuídas até à data e que apoios comunitários podem ser utilizados na criação de emprego no distrito.
O PCP exigiu hoje a imediata intervenção do Governo junto da Autoridade das Condições de Trabalho (ACT) para impedir, urgentemente, que 60 trabalhadores da construção civil, na Covilhã, continuem com condições de vida absolutamente indignas.
Num requerimento dirigido ao ministro da Economia, Álvaro Santos Pereira, os deputados do PCP referem que esses trabalhadores, todos operários armadores de ferro e naturais de países africanos e afrodescendentes vivem há mais de dois meses sem água canalizada para a sua higiene pessoal e necessidades fisiológicas, alimentação e limpeza das instalações onde comem, dormem e cozinham.
Estes 60 cidadãos trabalham para a "AçoMonta" numa obra a cargo da "Opway Somague" para a construção do "Data Center" da Portugal Telecom.
O PCP exige uma intervenção rápida por parte do Governo junto da ACT.
A resposta que a ACT deu a comunicar que fará alguma coisa em algum destes dias é inaceitável. Por isso, o PCP exige uma urgente intervenção por parte da ACT para que se reponha a legalidade e se assegurem as condições de higiene e de segurança no trabalho.
O país não é compatível com a existência de trabalhadores a viver naquelas condições.
Queremos que a intervenção da ACT sirva para resolver rapidamente este problema. Esta situação, pura e simplesmente, não é aceitável.

Após a divulgação pelo Governo de que o roubo levado a cabo às populações e empresas com o pagamento de portagens nas SCUT é para continuar, pese embora o prolongamento do regime de isenções por 3 meses, o PCP afirma que esta medida não resolve o problema da competitividade das empresas da região e da degradação do nível de vida das populações servindo apenas para agravar a já frágil situação económica da região e continuar a drenar riqueza para os grandes grupos económicos detentores das concessões.
O PCP entende que os problemas económicos que as portagens trouxeram para a vida das populações não se resolvem dando migalhas como as isenções e descontos. A única medida que na verdade contribui para a melhoria da vida das populações residentes nas regiões atravessadas pelas SCUT é colocar um ponto final a este roubo introduzido pelo governo PS e posto em prática pelo PSD/CDS.
Para que esta injustiça termine o PCP apresentou um Projeto de Resolução na Assembleia da República que visa por termo às portagens nas SCUT.
O PCP vai continuar a defender as vias sem custo para o utilizador, isto é sem portagens, e apela a todos que se unam nesta justa luta pela defesa das SCUT como vias prioritárias para o desenvolvimento económico desta região do Interior.
